Lubbock, Texas, 9/5/2008 —Students of the Cooper High School Band from Abilene, Tex. will be rewarded for their hard work and diligent practicing come March 11, 2009 when the band must fly to Hawaii to perform at the Remember the Heroes concert in Pearl Harbor.

The Remember the Heroes concert series offers school music programs the opportunity to pay tribute to United States military heroes by way of a patriotic public performance in the shadows of the USS Arizona Memorial and USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Schools are required to submit a taped recording in order to be considered for the concert.

After Johnson submitted a taped recording of his band, adjudicators selected the Cooper High School Band for their outstanding technique and musicianship.
