Choice Music Events Enriching Lives Through Performance

National Youth Concert Performance Schedule Released
November 14, 2006

Choice Music Events finalized the 2007 National Youth Concert performance schedule to be held on April 26, 2007. The National Youth Concert provides outstanding high school bands and orchestras with an opportunity to perform in one of the world's finest performance venues. The 2007 concert will be held at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in Manhattan, New York and is sure to be a remarkable and unforgettable experience for the participating students, directors, and patrons attending. The Choice Music Events selection committee selected five world-class ensembles to participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity. These ensembles include (in performance order):

2:00 PM Concert
Byron P. Steele High School Band 2, Cibolo, Texas – Kyle Friesenhan, Conductor
Zachary Senior High School Band, Zachary, Louisiana - Jason Venable, Conductor
Byron P. Steele High School Band 1, Cibolo, Texas – Kyle Friesenhan, Conductor

8:00 PM Concert
Shoreline Youth Symphony Orchestra, Madison, Connecticut – William Clemmons, Conductor
Edmond North High School Orchestra, Edmond, Oklahoma – Peter Markes, Conductor

Choice Music Events presented the University of Illinois Wind Symphony's debut at Carnegie hall in 2006 and Michael Holmes, a graduate student in the band stated, "Carnegie Hall is the most reputable thing you can think of as a performance venue, and the most exciting thing is to look down the list of all the people who have performed there." These selected ensembles will be performing on the very same stage where Dvorak, Mahler, and even the Beatles have performed, and as a result, a Carnegie Hall appearance has become synonymous with success. "However," Jon Locke, President of Choice Music Events stated, "a world-class performance venue is only worthwhile if it plays host to a world-class ensemble. These ensembles represent the top of their selected class and are all very deserving of this esteemed honor."

In addition to the performance, Choice Music Events will present an on-stage group photograph, a commemorative shadowbox, a certificate for each participating student, a compact disc recording of their performance, a playbill listing, and onsite signage announcing each performance. Groups interested in performing at the 2008 National Youth Concert may learn more and complete the necessary paperwork found at www.choicemusicevents.org.
