Remember the Heroes Concert Series to be Offered by Choice Music Events
October 23, 2006
Choice Music Events finalized the last details for the Remember the Heroes Concert
Series and is now able to offer bands, choirs, and orchestras the opportunity to perform at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in
the upcoming year. This once in a lifetime opportunity enables music students to pay tribute to United States
military heroes by way of a patriotic public performance in the shadows of the USS Arizona Memorial and USS
Bowfin Submarine Museum.
The Judson High School band from San Antonio, Texas performed at the Remember the Heroes Concert Series last
summer and band director Dana Pradervand stated, "Planning a trip of this caliber is a lot of work, but it is worth
the effort to offer the students this once-in-a-lifetime performance and educational opportunity." Ensembles
wishing to participate in the 2007 Remember The Heroes Concert Series must submit a completed application form,
audition materials, and a small refundable application fee. There is an informal audition process and an invitation
will be extended to all ensembles approved by the Choice Music Events Performance Selection Committee. Upon
selection, the ensemble director will coordinate with staff members from Director’s Choice Tour &l Travel and
Choice Music Events to design a customized performance event that will meet the needs of the performing
ensemble and honor the intent of the concert series.
Ensembles are given forty-minute times slots and are encouraged to perform selections that are patriotic in nature.
Choice Music Events will provide chairs, music stands, and a public address system so that performing ensembles
can focus their energy on paying homage to United States military heroes through their musical performance. "It is
an honor to be able to give music students the opportunity to be heard by not only the people visiting the USS
Arizona Memorial, but also by the military personnel and civilian employees that live and work at Naval Station
Pearl Harbor," said Jon Locke, President of Choice Music Events.
